Mass Communication - Multimedia Journalism Concentration Major

Mission:

To equip students with the knowledge and hands-on skills needed to thrive in the evolving landscape of multimedia journalism. This concentration emphasizes cross-platform storytelling, integrating traditional reporting techniques with digital tools, video production, audio storytelling, and social media engagement.

Program Outcomes

Graduates will be able to:

  • Gather, report, and produce multimedia news stories for digital platforms, broadcast, and print.
  • Utilize audio, video, and photography effectively to enhance storytelling.
  • Apply media law and ethical principles across platforms.
  • Edit content for clarity, accuracy, and audience engagement using industry-standard software.
  • Manage content for online publications, including social media strategies.

Major Requirements

Completion of the Mass Communication Core (MASC 150, MASC 205, MASC 210, MASC 400, MASC 485; 15 hours) plus the following concentration courses:
