The Micro-Credential in Printmaking offers students from all academic backgrounds an opportunity to develop visual storytelling skills through the medium of Printmaking. Students explore printing techniques including monotype, relief, etching, and serigraphy. Students will also explore the technical processes and nomenclature of matrix formation and manipulation, the nature of impressions, and editioning while learning to communicate concepts and present engaging contemporary print works. This credential balances creativity and craftsmanship, providing a valuable asset to students in the arts and beyond.
Comprising three courses, the credential can be stacked toward the BA or BFA in Studio Art. It helps students expand their artistic practice and strengthen their ability to communicate visually in both personal and professional contexts.
ASSESSMENT
To complete this Microcredential, students submit a portfolio of 3–5 representative works at the end of their final required course. Faculty and/or subject matter experts review the portfolio to confirm mastery of the key skills and competencies.
- Students will demonstrate mastery of the printmaking processes: Monotype, Relief, Etching, and Serigraphy.
- Students will apply both technical know-how and conceptual story telling in traditional print processes.
- Students will produce a professional-quality printmaking portfolio that communicates technical ability and conceptual depth.
